    Events and conventions

When you’re in charge of deploying a high-speed broadband network at an event - be it a summer music festival, or corporate event - you can’t spend time on running miles of cabling. Installing a Meshbone network is as easy as choosing the spots where you want network coverage, and making sure the wireless access points are powered. If you have the need to be truly autonomous, use a battery-powered network device and free yourself from any infrastructure.

    Applications:

    • digital signage
    • video surveillance
    • content delivery
    • ...
  • Connected home

    Connected home

As we move to an “IP everything” world, users demand more and more flexibility in how they interact with their home and how they consume media. Traditionally, home automation systems required vendor lock-in to proprietary systems and networks. Today, many systems have become compatible with open IP and WiFi standards for their control and operation. Any home or media control system will only be successful when its users have access to it from every room in the house, the garden, the pool house, etc. Installing the network cabling to provide the coverage is typically seen as too cumbersome, as it involves cutting open walls... A Meshbone wireless mesh allows for great flexibility in delivering home-wide coverage, requiring minimal to no intrusive changes.

    Applications:

    • home automation control
    • media control content
    • streaming video
    • surveillance
    • ...
  • Emergency management

    Emergency management

When multiple emergency brigades or disciplines arrive at an accident or disaster scene, communication is key. By deploying a Meshbone wireless mesh on-site, commanding officers from different brigades need connectivity to exchange digital intervention plans, or tap into wireless cameras deployed throughout the site. If one of the Meshbone nodes has a wireless uplink to the internet (e.g., WiFi or 3G), all the participants can use this uplink to communicate with the crisis centers and exchange critical information.

    Applications:

    • creation of local interconnected hotspots
    • exchange of digital intervention plans on-site peer-to-peer communication
    • camera connectivity to enhance situational awareness
    • joint uplink to the internet for back-end communications
    • ...

  • Industrial applications

    Industrial applications

Deploying a networking infrastructure at industrial sites is often too troublesome or impossible. In mining applications, there may be an high-capacity line stretching out into the fields, but reaching all the sites (which may be mobile) is not always possible. Deploying a wireless mesh to extend an existing infrastructure introduces a whole new level of flexibility to perform monitoring and control applications to the wide array of sensors deployed in the field. As the situation changes, the network changes with automatically, without the need of re-installing any wired infrastructure.

    Applications:

    • remote control and monitoring
    • transmission of sensor telemetry
    • ...

  • Connected communities

    Connected communities

In many rural and developing areas, running a wired network to remote communities is impossible. Even though these communities could benefit strongly from broadband connectivity and open up a whole new world for them, they are often unreachable by traditional technologies. Even though newer developments in broadband cellular networks will allow these communities to be connected, a wireless mesh network serves as the ideal companion to extend this signal for “the last mile” and serve as the broadband wireless backbone for both local communications services, as provide the necessary paths to the cellular uplink.

    Applications:

    • Community
    • Wide internet access
    • Voice communications
    • Monitoring and surveillance
    • ...

How mesh works

A wireless mesh network alleviates the needs for cabling by allowing access point devices to talk to each other wirelessly.
