Who we are
Backed by several years of strong academic research and development, Meshbone develops unique wireless mesh networking software.
Meshbone was founded in 2009, as a spin-off from the University of Antwerp and the IBBT, the Interdisciplinary Institute for Broadband Technology, both based in Belgium.
Meshbone’s goal is to provide a new class of flexible and accessible wireless networking technology across a wide range of devices.
Founders
Nik Van den Wijngaert, PhD – CEO and Founder
Holding an MS in Mathematics and Computer Sciences, Nik received his PhD in telecommunications in 2005, from the University of Antwerp, Belgium. While remaining active in the academical universe, he also started up his own consultancy firm specializing in network modeling and simulation, working for both commercial and military clients across Europe, the United States, and Asia.
After identifying the very rich technology being developed in the labs at the university, Nik took the lead in identifying the commercial opportunity and building the ecosystem needed build the business based on the technical innovations.
